🐾 Laboratory of Veterinary Pathology
The Laboratory of Veterinary Pathology at NPUST integrates frontline diagnostics with translational research to advance animal health, disease surveillance, and biomedical applications. We provide comprehensive gross and histopathological services for a wide spectrum of species, including livestock, companion animals, wildlife, and aquatic organisms.
Our laboratory serves as a key regional hub for wildlife necropsy and pathogen surveillance in southern Taiwan, actively contributing to national animal health and conservation programs. Through partnerships with government and private sectors, we engage in outbreak investigations, zoonotic disease monitoring, and diagnostic innovation.

🔬 Research Focus – Bridging Pathology and Preventive Medicine
Our research is currently centered on swine Mycoplasma species, a pathogen of increasing significance in commercial pig herds. Our projects include:
- Optimization of serum-based media for high-density cultivation
- Development of porcine infection models for histopathological and immunological analysis
- Supporting antigen production for vaccine research and future field application
These efforts aim to overcome critical limitations in mycoplasma diagnostics and vaccine development, addressing unmet needs in the swine industry through practical and scalable solutions.

🐾獸醫病理學研究室
本研究室以動物病理診斷與疾病研究為核心,涵蓋家畜、伴侶動物、野生動物與水生動物的剖檢與組織病理分析,並執行野生動物剖檢與病原監測計畫,協助防疫與保育工作。
近年來,研究團隊特別聚焦於豬隻黴漿菌的研究,針對其高密度培養條件進行優化,以提升抗原產率與診斷效率。我們亦建立動物感染模型,進行組織病變評估,作為疫苗開發與疾病防治的重要基礎。此研究方向針對目前黴漿菌性疾病在豬場中的診斷瓶頸與疫苗空缺,提供技術解方與應用潛力。
研究室同時肩負教學任務,訓練獸醫學生與病理住院獸醫師,培養其在病理學診斷、案例評估與學術研究上的能力。透過與產學界的合作,我們致力於將臨床診斷成果轉化為具實用性的防疫應用。

目前重點研究方向為豬隻黴漿菌相關疾病,針對其診斷與疫苗開發過程中之瓶頸進行研究,包括:
- 建立高密度黴漿菌培養配方,提升抗原產率
- 建立動物感染模型,觀察肺部病變與免疫反應
- 協助發展未來可應用於現場的黴漿菌疫苗產品
這些研究不僅對臺灣豬隻產業極具實用價值,更可推動國際間黴漿菌疾病控制技術的發展。
